About Us

PROFILE OF THE IMPLEMENTING ORGANISATION: 
SICELLA Foundation is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Ghana to create awareness, educate, identify, address, support people with sickle cell disease, promote SCD status checking and ultimately decrease the sickle cell traits and prevent the sickling cell disease in the community and country at large.
We also purpose to create a social change by;

       Educating youth on the principles of mother to child transmission
       Educating mothers and youth on the principles of safe parenting and child survival
       Encouraging and promoting individual health status checking on various conditions
       Educating members on life style diseases and its prevention
       Prevention and treatment of genetic health conditions
       Educating members on the principles of healthy lifestyles
       Prevention and management of genetic health conditions
As we plan and implement our program, we understand that community involvement and participation are essential to achieving long term success and sustainability.


VISION
A community where all members know about the sickle cell disease, their individual sickling status and matching hence having a community free of sickle cell disease and reduced sickle cell trait.


MISSION
The mission of this organization is implementing effective and sustainable education, awareness project to break the sickling chain in Ghana.



AIMS/OBJECTIVES
  1. To reduce sickling disease and its mortality rate through provision of effective health education and training.
  2. Establishment of sickling support groups in schools, colleges and
communities to share developmental ideas and discuss problems associated with stigmatization and problems that affect health
  1. Establishment of electrophoresis services throughout the country
  2. Collaborate and network with potential partners among NGOs, donors and other institutions in order to mobilize resources to address the need and concern of the disadvantaged SCD victims
  3. Increase awareness and promote positive health behaviours
  4. Providing outreach programs and counseling services
  5. To promote the use of health care facility on the onset of an abnormality
  6. To carry out research pertaining to genetic diseases
  7. To raise fund and receive contribution where appropriate to finance the work
  8. Encourage the checking of sickling status in various Secondary and Tertiary Institution prior to admission.
